Ride-hailing: A platform for women’s economic participation in Mexico and Brazil
In partnership with Uber
In collaboration with Uber, Oxford Economics conducted an online survey of 7,000 frequent ride-hailers in Brazil and Mexico to explore the influence of ride-hailing platforms on women’s economic participation in that region.
Our latest research in partnership with Uber reveals how ride-hailing services are transforming the lives of women in Latin America. Through comprehensive surveys and personal stories, we explore how these services are enhancing safety, expanding job opportunities, and empowering women with greater independence and economic potential.
The study highlights how ride-hailing services are not only making daily commutes easier for many women, but also expanding their access to jobs and contributing to social and economic progress in the region. Learn how ride-hailing is boosting female workforce participation and promoting a more equitable future.
We believe that safe, reliable mobility is foundational to opportunity, especially for women. That’s why we’ve maintained an unwavering commitment to being the safest platform for women. This new study by Oxford Economics offers valuable insights into how our safety efforts ripple outward—strengthening communities and fueling economic growth in the cities we serve. We will continue to invest in cutting-edge, customizable technology, rigorous safety processes, and trusted partnerships to help ensure that women everywhere can move freely, confidently, and on their own terms. – Liz Dank, Head of Women’s and Personal Safety Public Policy, Uber
