Previously he was an economics correspondent at The Independent newspaper in London, where he wrote news stories, features, and comment articles. He was also night editor, business news editor, and transport correspondent at the paper.

He received the Workworld Media Award for Print Journalist of the Year in 2006 and for Feature Writer of the Year in 2009. He has a degree in law from University College London.

Pierre graduated from Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris (ESCP Business School) in 2000, then pursued an MSc in Macroeconomics at Paris-Dauphine University with a thesis on macroeconomic equilibrium, and a BA in Philosophy from Paris-Sorbonne University. After a short experience at Arthur Andersen, he joined the internet holding of Vivendi as a financial analyst. Turning to economics through his MSc, he joined Oxford Economics in 2004 in Oxford as an economist covering Asian and European economies. Pierre came back to Paris in 2007 to set up Oxford Economics operations on the Continent. He is now heading the Paris office which covers France, Iberia, Belgium and French-speaking Africa.

Rakan brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having spearheaded the growth of our Asset Management business since 2014. Ricardo re-joined Oxford Economics in April 2021 as a Lead Economist in the eurozone team. He is responsible for producing and presenting macroeconomic forecasts for Portugal. He also contributes to the team's timely analysis of incoming data and news flow and thematic research on the eurozone economy. Ricardo is a well-rounded economist with previous roles spanning coverage of Ireland and Ireland's key trading partners (eurozone, UK and US) and financial market developments, in particular interest and exchange rates.

Ricardo started his career working in public policy at the European Commission. Ricardo was educated at the Nova School of Business and Economics and Barcelona Graduate School of Economics, where he obtained a master's degree in economics and finance.

Rob is an Associate Director in the Applied Economic Consulting team within the Economic Impact department.

Since joining Oxford Economics in 2018, he has run many high-profile economic impact studies in the aerospace, defence and transport sectors, including for clients such as BAE Systems, Leonardo UK and the European Express Association.
He has also run environmental impact studies, such as looking at the socioeconomic contribution of the European Commission's Clean Sky 2 aviation R&D programme, and the environmental impact of the German fashion industry.

Rob has previously worked for the economics advisory team of EY, for the macroeconomics team at the Centre of Economics and Business Research, and for marketing analytics company Gain Theory. Rob has an MSc in economics and econometrics from the University of Bristol.

He completed a 12 month placement with CME Group before returning to university for his final year of study.

Since joining OE, Robert has been working in the EMEA Macro consulting team in Belfast and his work so far has included custom economic modelling, bespoke economic impact reports, and forecasting the economies of Kosovo and Montenegro. In his free time, Robert enjoy's surfing, tennis and playing guitar!

Rory joined Oxford Economics in September 2020 after graduating from the University of Exeter with a first-class BSc in Economics. While at university, he completed an industrial placement year at Oxford Economics in our Latin American Macro Forecasting team. His undergraduate dissertation focused on the drivers of currency crises in emerging markets with floating exchange rates.
