The cities in Europe primed for the AI revolution
Discover the disparities in AI readiness across Europe, highlighting key regions and their potential in the evolving technological landscape.
The AI Advantage Index reveals significant disparities in AI readiness across Europe, highlighting the Nordics and North-West Europe as leaders in this technological revolution. In contrast, Southern and Eastern Europe show a concentration of AI capabilities in a few capital cities.
The index evaluates regions based on five key dimensions: current AI adoption, human capital, innovation and investment, infrastructure, and labour market structure. Notably, cities like Stockholm, Paris, and Helsinki rank at the top, while regions such as Madrid and Lisbon illustrate a capital-centric model that diverges from national trends.
Interestingly, advanced manufacturing hubs like Munich and Stuttgart also demonstrate strong AI potential, suggesting that the relationship between AI advantage and economic structure is more nuanced than previously thought. This indicates that both service-oriented and advanced manufacturing regions can thrive in an AI-driven landscape.
