Oxford Economics launches AskOEAI Model Assistant, the world’s first AI assistant for macro modelling
Oxford Economics has launched AskOEAI Model Assistant, the world’s first AI assistant for macro modelling, enabling users to build and run macroeconomic scenarios through natural language.
“Organisations need to explore how different economic shocks could affect their decisions, particularly when uncertainty is high. The challenge is turning those questions into scenarios that can be modelled and benchmarked quickly and easily. Model Assistant brings our economic research and modelling expertise into a conversational workflow, helping clients move more quickly from “what if” to a rigorous, quantified, assessment of the impact,” said Neil Walker, Head of Macro Modelling, Oxford Economics.
Purpose-built by Oxford Economics’ modelling and AI experts, Model Assistant translates users’ assumptions into the appropriate inputs for its flagship Global Economic Model (GEM). It draws on Oxford Economics’ extensive economic research to help shape scenarios, then runs them through the model to quantify their potential effects. The scenario results are benchmarked against Oxford Economics’ latest baseline, providing a consistent reference point for comparing outcomes.
By connecting research, scenario design and modelling in one workflow, Model Assistant makes scenario analysis more accessible and faster to apply, helping users assess risks and understand how different economic conditions could affect their plans.
Working to empower your decisions
Model Assistant builds on Oxford Economics’ wider investment in AI, including AskOEAI Business Foresight and Executive Lens, as well as Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations that connect Oxford Economics’ research and data with the AI tools clients already use.
The launch extends this work into scenario modelling, giving clients a conversational way to explore alternative economic outcomes. It reflects a shared ambition across Oxford Economics’ AI developments: to make its data, forecasts and economist expertise easier to use in the day-to-day work of planning, assessing risk and making decisions.
“Our investment in AI is about helping clients unlock more value from our economic expertise. Whether they are building a business forecast, exploring a scenario or using our intelligence within their own AI tools, the aim is to help them answer the questions that matter to their organisation,” said Innes McFee, CEO, Oxford Economics.
