• We forecast world GDP to grow by 2.6% this year, 0.3 percentage points higher than our forecast from last year’s report as the headwinds from the Iran conflict temper the upside potential from lower tariffs. Meanwhile fixed investment is projected to rise by 4% in 2026 and 4.3% in 2027—substantial upgrades since a year ago. Industrial production has also benefitted from reduced uncertainty with forecasts revised higher for this year.
• We anticipate the weakest region for pumps demand growth this year will be Middle East & Africa region given the cutbacks in hydrocarbon production in the region.
• European pump demand is forecast to expand by 1.6% this year, a deceleration from an upwardly revised 2025.
• Strong US demand will support growth from North America as a favourable investment climate supports pumps demand.
• In Asia, demand is forecast to grow by 4.1%. Chinese resilience in the face of tariffs has meant an upward revision to our Chinese outlook while Indian growth continues to outperform other more mature markets. Despite relatively strong growth in the region, Asia remains especially exposed to a prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
