Since joining Oxford Economics Matthew has built on his expertise in economic consultancy,​ developing a specialty in economic impact assessments, cost-benefit analysis and policy development. Currently, Matthew helps lead the EMEA tourism consultancy unit within Oxford Economics.

Matthew has completed a number of tourism impact and policy studies for destinations around the world as well as for discrete parts of the accommodation and aviation sectors. He has also been the lead analyst for the development of a number of tourism satellite accounts and has been heavily involved in our work to assess the total economic value of various cultural and environmental assets.

Previously Matthew worked at KPMG, where he focused on winning and delivering economic consultancy work in key local, national and European markets. Matthew holds a first-class economics degree from the University of Ulster.

Matthew is an Economist within Oxford Economics' Global Industry Service, working on subscription service developments. He is responsible for monitoring and forecasting the construction industry, as well as developments to the forecasting process for the sector. He also works on a variety of bespoke research projects and recurring forecasting projects for clients operating in the construction sector, but also other sectors such as aerospace.

In addition to his work on the GIS, Matthew contributes to Oxford Economics' Global Construction Service and is responsible for the United States Construction Forecasting Service.

He first joined as a placement student in 2020, before returning in 2022 after completing his Economics and Management degree at Loughborough University.

He joined the team in 2021 and is based in our Dubai office. Prior to joining Oxford Economics, Matthew was a Sales Director at Fitch Solutions covering business development across the Middle East having moved to Dubai from London to help set-up their UAE office in 2015. Matthew holds a Master’s degree in Management (with a speciality in International Business) and a Batchelor’s degree in Philosophy, both from the University of Sheffield.

Michael Kleiman is an Associate Director and leads the Macroeconomic Consulting team in North America. Mike also led the development of Oxford Economics’ Canadian Provincial and Territorial Model (CPTM), a large-scale, detailed bottom-up model of the Canadian economy covering all thirteen provinces and territories.

Prior to joining Oxford Economics, Mike worked as an economist in the New York representative office of the Banca d'Italia covering macroeconomic, political, and financial system issues in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He holds a Masters degree in Economics from New York University and a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering from Tufts University.

Michael Pearce is the Deputy Chief US Economist based in New York City, sharing responsibility for forecasting the US economy and monetary policy. He has a particular focus on the US consumer and inflation. Before joining Oxford Economics, Michael worked for the Treasury in the UK, and was a senior member of the US economics team at Capital Economics for more than a decade, and he lived and worked in the UK, US, and Switzerland during that time. He has a masters degree in economic history from the London School of Economics, and a bachelors degree in economics from University College London.

Michael – based in Sydney, Australia – is our Head of APAC Tourism Analysis, working on a combination of subscription products and bespoke consulting projects. Michael contributes to forecasts for travel flows in APAC, analysis trends and developments in the region, and presents our most recent outlook at events and webinars. 

Having worked with Oxford Economics for four years, including in the Oxford and Frankfurt offices, Michael has delivered a variety of projects for clients. These include economic impact analysis for attractions, events and sub-sectors of the tourism industry, custom forecasts and scenarios, and the impact of policies on tourism demand. Prior to joining Tourism Economics, Michael worked at the Reserve Bank of Australia for seven years.
