Nordic key themes 2022: Headwinds to dissipate

Ipad Frame - Nordic-key-themes-2022-Headwinds-to-dissipate

The Nordic countries will exit 2021 in much better shape than when they entered it. Considerable progress on vaccine rollouts and post-reopening booms have brought all four economies above their pre-pandemic levels. We think four key themes will shape the outlook for the region heading into 2022.

What you will learn:

  • Despite a recent surge in new cases, high vaccination rates and ongoing booster programmes should forestall virus containment measures from upsetting the recovery.
  • A rapid resurgence in domestic and global demand has led to supply-demand imbalances, as firms report record shortages of raw materials and labour.
  • Higher wholesale energy prices and global supply-demand imbalances in goods have pushed inflation to record highs.
