Business Development Manager – Germany

Oxford Economics, a leading global economic research and consultancy firm, is seeking to hire a Business Development Manager (BDM). As a part of the growth strategy in DACH-region & Eastern Europe, this person will be responsible for leading the new business element of the Sales team, and growing the subscription research business within the territory. There will be a key focus on hunting new clients and growing our portfolio both within this person’s own sector remit, as well as, mentoring and managing the business development team.

The Business Development Manager will focus on growing the subscription services client base in the territory, whilst also playing a vital role in supporting brand-building efforts. Working collaboratively with our clients, the BDM, on occasion, should also be ready to coordinate consultancy sales. This position will be an integral part of Oxford Economics’ growth plans for EMEA and is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing company at the forefront of the industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with the Territory Director and the Business Development team to create and execute strategies to sell Oxford Economics subscription products
  • Oversee a team of Business Development professionals to bring on new logos to the team’s book of business across the territory
  • Head-up major sales presentations and lead webinars with prospective clients
  • Initiate and close sales of Oxford Economics subscription services. The candidate should be experienced in face-to-face meetings and well versed in dealing with the whole sales cycle, complex negotiations and closing deals.
  • Through market analysis, identify key companies in the territory, key individuals within companies, and establish relationships with these prospects
  • Maintain a knowledge of global economic and business trends to facilitate conversations with clients
  • Develop a strong knowledge of the subscription products and become proficient at providing demonstrations of these services
Skills and Experience: Required
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, ideally within a relevant field (economics, business, finance)
  • German native speaker and fluent / bi-lingual in English
  • A proven, demonstrable new business sales track record of 5-7 years
  • Strong closer with experience selling complex packages and solutions
  • Able to craft joint subscription-consulting deals
  • Must be highly organized and able to manage multiple projects at once
  • Must be a self-starter, with the drive to set and reach ambitious goals
  • Willingness to travel across the assigned territory to meet prospects
Skills and Experience: Desired
  • Economics or international affairs degree
  • Advanced degree is highly preferred
  • Research, economic or professional services sales experience
  • Experience selling to senior executives (managing directors, board level)
  • Existing contacts at key companies within the region
  • Languages such as Dutch, Polish, Czech etc are a plus
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
