The economic impact of Huawei in Europe
In this study, commissioned by Huawei, we how it contributes to economies across Europe through its operations and international supply chains. We find that the company contributed €12.8 billion to Europe's GDP in 2018, sustained 169,700 jobs and supported the generation of €5.6 billion tax revenues.
Huawei is among the companies leading the way in innovating the products and services needed to accomplish the European Commission’s target of a digital sovereignty and technological leadership. However, in addition to helping shape Europe’s digital future, Huawei makes a sizable and immediate contribution to the continent’s economy.
This study, commissioned by Huawei, seeks to quantify the company’s “total economic impact” throughout Europe, through both its operations and the “knock-on effects” of demand for European products in the supply chains of Huawei’s European and global operations.
By using our Global Impact Model to trace the company’s pan-European supply chains, we find, that in 2018, Huawei contributed a €12.8 billion contribution to Europe’s GDP, sustained 169,700 jobs and supported the generation of €5.6 billion in tax revenues.
