Total building is expected to ease back a further 8% in FY2021 and 2% in FY2022 to $96.66 billion, extending the downturn to four years. This is a longer cycle than previously forecast, predominately reflecting a weaker population growth outlook that stems from a slower reopening of Australia’s border. It is not until FY2023 that total building is anticipated to return to growth.
