Singapore: Building and Construction in Singapore 2020-2024: September 2020 Update

While total construction commencements hit further lows in Q2 2020 at S$5.7 billion (-21.3%y/y), H2 is expected to improve as imposed Circuit Breaker (CB) measures ease. This will see total construction commencements fall 24.8% in 2020, with declines anticipated across all segments of residential (-20.5%), non-residential (-23.6%) and civil engineering (-30.8%) construction.​ Growing residential pent-up demand and returning investor and consumer appetite will support the rebound in the construction sector over the near to medium term.
