Transatlantic policy responses are close cousins

While outright transatlantic policy coordination has been lacking, the strong US and eurozone policy responses to the Global Coronavirus Recession (GCR) have been surprisingly similar in size and scope. We expect the combined fiscal and central bank aid to approach 30% of GDP by year-end, and loan guarantees translate into firepower worth 50% of GDP.
