The minutes from the April ECB meeting strongly reinforce the message that the council stands ready to provide additional monetary stimulus. This willingness was driven by concerns about the disruptive nature of the current crisis, its non-symmetric impact across countries, downside risks to external demand prospects as well as growing risks of deflationary developments.
