Construction expenditure is expected to drop sharply over the near term as the enforced 25 March month-long lockdown puts a halt on work at construction sites across the country. From the 2019 peak, work done is expected to decline 12.7% in 2020. Both residential (-12.8% y/y) and non-residential (-29.7%) building will contribute to the fall, with civil engineering (+3.5%) providing vital support as projects already in the pipeline are accelerated.
