Construction work is expected to have slowed in Q1, especially in the non-residential sector, amid the completion of major Olympic Games-related projects (but the now postponed Games till next year will see maintenance expenditures on these venues to make a small contribution to the rebound). The state of emergency declared in April has seen up to 90% of construction sites closed across the nation, which will precipitate a decline in work done across all sectors in Q2. And with uncertainty weighing on the environment and a need to implement COVID-safe processes, we expect subdued growth in Q3 and Q4. Overall, we see work done contracting 5.7% this year, with an 12.6% fall in residential and -10.6% in non-residential; while civil engineering is expected to rise slightly, by 1.9%.
