Oil producers’ currency vulnerabilities are welling up

Pegged currencies of energy producers would have depreciated on average by an additional 17% had their currencies been floating from the start of 2020, according to our model of currency vulnerabilities. The average GCC currency would have depreciated 14%, led by Oman (20%) and Bahrain (19%).
