Building and construction activity will drop sharply over the near term as New Zealand announces an unprecedented Level 4 nationwide lockdown from midnight 25 March for the next four weeks in a bid to contain the COVID-19 outbreak. All non-essential businesses will be closed with construction services only allowed for those related to essential services, critical infrastructure, or those needed to maintain human health and safety.
