Growth in the construction sector is expected to moderate slightly this year, to an estimated 9%, from 10% in 2018. We expect a further pick-up in 2020, which is projected to continue through to 2023. Factors underpinning the positive outlook for the construction sector include President Widodo’s renewed push for infrastructure projects and the development of the new capital city in East Kalimantan before his term ends in 2024. Other factors underpinning Indonesia’s construction growth include urbanization, a rapid middle-income group expansion and business reform to attract FDI.
