The level of building completions in Q2 is unusually high. This could be due to the fast-tracking of project completions in response to still positive investor activity. However, we expect overall completions this year to remain weak. The tight liquidity position facing small and medium-sized developers, combined with a build up in oversupply across the property sector especially in lower tier cities, and slowing demand amid uncertainties over US-China trade war, will act to delay or stall project completions in the coming years.
