Minutes show growing division, but October cut likely

The minutes from the September 17-18 FOMC meeting reaffirmed the Fed’s risk management and meeting-by-meeting approach, focused on the threat from global and trade risk to US growth. While the Fed’s divide has become increasingly visible – with several participants seeking more clarity on when to end the easing cycle – participants agreed that downside risks had increased.
