Taiwan: Building and Construction in Taiwan 2019-2023: October 2019 Update

​Recent building data indicates that residential investment is much stronger than expected. The non-residential building sector also showed to be more resilient. We think returning Taiwanese companies have provided a boost to property market sentiment. This has led us to revise upward this year’s work done value in real terms to 4.8%, up from 2.5%. Growth in 2020 is revised down to -0.3% from 1% and -2% in 2021 from 5%. Construction investment remains on track to grow moderately for the remainder of the outlook period.
