Parliament’s Hobson’s Choice – ‘Deal’ or ‘no deal’

Just ten weeks to Brexit day and the outcome is still uncertain. Like a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, the three options still on the table (“deal”, “no deal” and “remain”) appear to have boiled down to a series of binary choices. For Theresa May, if she can't get her deal through parliament, the choice is between “no deal” or offering a referendum. Should that referendum be called, the choice would appear to be between “remain” or the existing deal. And for the Labour Party there is only the stark choice between “deal” or “no deal”.
