Unsynchronised growth: Stronger US now a global drag

We have revised up our US growth forecasts over recent months, but forecasts elsewhere are under downwards pressure – especially in emerging markets (EM). Firmer US growth may boost the rest of the world via trade effects but its effects on financial markets – the dollar, global interest rates and commodity and equity prices – are now sufficiently negative to outweigh trade impacts.
