After a steep fall in the trade surplus in April and a slight recovery in May, the trade balance has now resoundingly jumped back above the A$1bn mark, to A$1.9bn in June. Strong and broad-based increases in export credits, combined with a fall in intermediate goods and non-monetary gold imports contributed to the large uptick in the trade balance.
