The US-China trade conflict has deepened further as the US prepares for further tariffs. Although a resumption of talks seems unlikely at the moment, increased domestic opposition to the trade war in the US could make it more plausible, while China may end up willing to compromise somewhat on its industrial and technology policies. Without such talks, further escalation seems unavoidable.
