Tourism flying high

​Driven by rising incomes and a depreciation of the AUD, the tourism sector has grown significantly over the past three years, helping to offset the economic impact of the decline in construction activity associated with the fall in mining investment. At a sectoral level, accommodation and food services are the biggest winners from the tourism boom, but the indirect effects are far-reaching throughout the economy; hotel building has been a major driver of the current boom in non residential construction.
