Credit is flowing easily through the system once again after years where households and small businesses struggled. Ángel Talavera, senior economist at Oxford Economics, highlights the importance of the role the financial system is playing in the economic recovery we are seeing in Spain. “You cannot have a functioning economy without credit flowing properly. That was the case during the recent economic crisis but now we see the banking system being supportive of the recovery. The level of new loans is growing strongly, and that is something we haven’t seen for years.” he said.
